Now is the time to prep your house for winter, while there's still the daylight to do it. A bit of maintenance today will help your house thrive in the winter months.
- Check for drafts: Check to see if any doorsweeps or weatherstripping needs to be replaced.
- Take care of outdoor furniture: Bringing in furniture to the garage or shed will increase its lifespan. If you have no space, invest in covers to protect the furniture through the winter.
- Fertilize your lawn: Roots are active even when the grass stops growing. Fertilizer will help prevent winter damage and give you a head start in spring.
- Fix driveway cracks: Water can freeze in cracks and expand them durign winter. Fill the cracks before the temps drop.
- Remove window AC units: If you must leave it, cover with insulated wrap to prevent cold air from coming in.
- Check faucets & put away hoses: Protect your pipes by draining and storing hoses and shutting off water to exterior faucets.
- Clean gutters: After leaves fall, clean gutters and downspouts. Check for damage and replace if need be.
